We would like to invite your feedback on a proposed High Availability Bandwidth product, based on a modified, uncontended implementation of XGSPON technology. Available inside of Chorus UFB areas, this new product will be capable of delivering up to 4Gbps of High Traffic Class bandwidth and benefit from card level redundancy by default.
We've heard from customers that there is a need for a product that can economically cater for high sustained bandwidth use cases where performance and uptime are essential, such as busy business environments or cell site backhaul. We believe that the proposed High Availability Bandwidth product can help fill this gap, but want to know what you think. At a high level, we are proposing that this new product will be:
- High Traffic Class only, with 1, 2 and 4 Gbps options.
- High availability, with in-built card level redundancy.
- Based on existing XGSPON layer 2 technology (OLTs/cards).
- Delivered using an SFP-ONT.
- Built on new Multipoint-to-Multipoint layer 1 technology using 2:4 uncontented splitters exclusive to this product.
- Pricing is to be determined, but likely to sit between $400 - $1000.
Below is a high-level snapshot of what the proposed product might look like:
