Confirmed Entry Level Offer
Overview
On 3 November we opened consultation on our proposed entry level offer. The consultation period ended on 24 November. We are now sharing a summary of the feedback and are confirming the offer we will develop taking your feedback into account.
Feedback
The feedback we received highlighted the importance of national consistency for fibre plans and that a new plan with 40Mbps speeds would add complexity. We heard there is a market for a low-cost fibre offer but the price points proposed were too high for the target segment. For more detail, please see here.
Announcing Home Fibre Starter 50
We’re excited to confirm that we will launch a new entry level offer on 1 April 2022.
This plan will be named Home Fibre Starter 50, and will include the following features:
- Speeds of 50-10-2.5-2.5,
- Standard wholesale price of $38.00, and
- Retail price cap of $60.00 (incl. GST).
Incentive overlay
We are also developing an incentive overlay for this offer and will be able to share further details on this in the new year.
The 50Mbps speed supports national consistency of fibre plans. The reduced standard price, removal of any ‘promotional’ price point, and the incentive under development, all address the feedback received around pricing.
This plan is for residential customers and is therefore not available for business customers or smart locations.
The existing 30Mbps offer (providing 50Mbps speeds) will remain unchanged. Where the Service Provider exceeds the retail price cap, the Home Fibre Starter 50 wholesale price will be the same as that existing plan.
Please note, as this will be a new plan there will be lead times associated with onboarding. If you are keen to onboard to this plan, please let us know as early as possible so that we can allocate resource.
Next steps
This is formal notice for the implementation of the new plan being launched on 1 April 2022.
We’re continuing to develop an incentive overlay for this plan and will share those details with you early 2022.
