New NGA plans available from 17th September
Informer 274: 19 August 2015
From 17th September six new Next Generation Access (NGA) plans will be available on the Chorus Portal, with the two new business services also available via OO&T. The plans are in response to Customer requests and are based on the Chorus’ Accelerate Bitstream 2 and 3A service descriptions in the UFB Reference Offer.
What's happening?
These new services include four synchronous plans with 50Mbps and 200Mbps variants for both business and education customers, and an Accelerate variant of the entry-level Evolve business offer.
We are also adding a new 100Mbps/50Mbps plan to the current NGA Secondary Plan trial and associated offer agreement.
What's the detail?
The four new NGA business and education plans will be available via the Portal from
17th September (with the business plans also available via OO&T). The new Bitstream 3A plans are provided under the existing UFB Reference Offer and additional high-priority traffic-class bandwidths can be purchased for each plan.
1 The Education 50 plan is not available in Rural Broadband Initiative (RBI) areas
After taking on-board your feedback we’re also introducing an Accelerate variant of the Bitstream 2 entry-level Evolve business plan. The Evolve 30-10-5-5 plan can only be ordered via the Chorus Portal and is available today.
Additional plan for the NGA Secondary Plan trial
We’ve been asked if we would include an additional option to the line-up of plans in our NGA Secondary Plan trial and have added the plan below which can only be ordered via the Portal. The plan is available from 17th September.
The NGA Secondary Plan trial is intended to assist you in identifying the opportunities, and differences in experience, of using the spare ports on an end-customers’ ONT. The NGA Secondary Plan is scheduled to continue until 30 October 2015, or until a total of 1,000 connections is reached2.
It’s important to understand that as secondary plans use the spare ports on an ONT they are separate and different from primary plans. They can only be offered where there is an existing eligible primary service on the ONT.
If the primary service is removed then any secondary plans must also be removed or one promoted to the primary. The spare ports cannot be used as additional primary service on the same ONT. For more information on this please review the NGA Technical User Guide.
A copy of the NGA Secondary Plan trial offer can be found in the Agreements section and an executable copy can be obtained from your Account Manager if you are keen to participate in the trial.
For a full list of NGA plans please refer to the Chorus ratecard.
2 The NGA Secondary Plan trial is restricted to 1,000 connections in total. Connection, transfer, modify or disconnect orders can be submitted for connections anywhere within the Chorus’ UFB candidate areas
