Promoting Better Broadband
Informer 279: 25 August 2015
As part of our ongoing efforts to promote, support and encourage uptake of fibre we are executing locally relevant marketing activity in Blenheim, Central Auckland suburbs and Wellington over the coming months.
What's happening?
This follows our Taupo campaign, which has been in market since 27 July and is still in rollout phase. Initial measures show strong interest, with the campaign driving over 1,000 Taupo residents to the Chorus map to check their broadband options and we have seen over 500 connection orders in the Taupo area during this time.
Using the material showcased at Dialogue on 12 August, we are launching localised activity in the following areas:
- Blenheim
- Central Auckland suburbs of Ponsonby, Grey Lynn, Herne Bay and Westmere
- Wellington
The activity will take place from mid-September through to November and will target both consumer and SME and focus on driving general awareness and upgrades to fibre plans.
What's the detail?
Media channels will include social media (primarily Facebook), digital advertising (on localised websites e.g. Trade Me and MetService), outdoor advertising (billboards and adshels), direct mail, local radio and print.
Blenheim
Activity goes live on Monday, 21 September and runs for six weeks through to Saturday, 31 October. Messaging here will focus on driving uptake of fibre plans and the activity will include:
- Billboards: 1 to 31 October
- Radio: 21 September to 18 October
- Digital advertising: 21 September to 1 November
Central Auckland
Activity is scheduled to launch on Thursday 1 October and run through to Saturday 31 October. Like Blenheim the message here will focus on driving uptake of fibre plans and the media mix includes:
- Billboards: 1 to 31 October
- Adshels: 19 October to 1 November
- Direct Mail (TBC): drop planned for early October
- Digital: 1 to 31 October
Wellington
Activity in the capital will begin on 1 October and continue until early November. Media space is currently being confirmed but will also cover a mix of billboards, radio, press and digital advertising.
