Recent improvements to the performance and stability of VDSL mean that connection only is now an effective option for VDSL installations 

What's happening?

In the past we’ve recommended that you take connection and wiring for VDSL connections, however recent improvements to the service mean that we’re now confident that connection only is an acceptable option in the majority of cases.

What's the detail?

Since the band plan change line stability has dramatically increased, with average downstream rates now reaching 50mbps. We have also observed that the majority of connection only VDSL orders are able to be completed remotely, with the next highest portion completed with an exchange or cabinet visit, and a small portion still needing a site visit.

Connection only works best for orders that are naked (e.g. no associated voice service), or transfer orders, where an existing intact ADSL service is being upgraded to VDSL.

You can continue to use connection and wiring when your customer needs internal wiring work completed, e.g. the installation of a splitter. This cost is amortised over a fixed term.
